A NEW MODEL FOR CONSERVATION

WHERE CONSERVATION

MEETS COMMUNITY

Building one of Africa’s most important community conservancies around Hluhluwe–iMfolozi Park – the birthplace of modern rhino conservation.

The Hluhluwe Imfolozi Conservancy project is part of a global campaign movement called the National Parks Campaign.

The Hluhluwe Imfolozi Community Conservancy (HICC) is a bold vision to unite people, wildlife, and land into a single thriving ecosystem.

Bordering one of Africa’s oldest and most iconic protected areas, HICC is creating a new model for conservation – where communities are not on the edge of nature, but at the heart of it.

WHY IT MATTERS

This landscape is globally significant. It is where the southern white rhino was brought back from the brink of extinction.

But today, the pressures are real:

growing populations

INCREASING PRESSURE ON NATURAL RESOURCES

LIMITED ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY

HICC exists to turn these challenges into opportunity.

INSTANT SNAPSHOTS

LAND

Thousands of hectares under community stewardship

COMMUNITY

Multiple communities engaged across the landscape

ECONOMY

Jobs created in conservation and tourism
